Sharma will lead the visitors with the Indian Test captain set to open the batting with Shubman Gill. Virat Kohli has also been drafted to feature in this warm-up game alongside Hanuma Vihari. Shreyas Iyer, who played in the recently conceded T20I series against South Africa joined up with the team in UK will bat in the middle order with KS Bharat donning the gloves.
All the eyes will also be on Ravindra Jadeja, with the all-rounder returning to action after recovering from a rib injury. He had a very poor outing during IPL 2022 campaign and will be eager to cement a spot in the playing XI in Ashwin’s absence. The Men in Blue has picked up 6 pacers for the upcoming series. Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and all-rounder Shardul Thakur are confirmed to play in the warmup game.

The warmup game will provide good match practice for Indian cricketers who have not played any red ball cricket in the last few months. After the clash against Leicestershire, India will take on England, playing the rescheduled fifth Test match starting from July 1 with the visitors currently leading the series by a 2-1 margin.
Following the Test match, the Men in Blue will take on the Three Lions in six white-ball matches. The tourists will play a three-match T20I series starting July 7 with the three One-Day Internationals scheduled to begin from 12 July onwards.
