IND-W vs AUS-W Match Update: Can Indian Women Team Stop Australia’s Winning Streak: The Indian women cricket team, who suffered a crushing defeat in the first match against Australia, is all set to play the second ODI against Australia on Friday to keep Australia’s 25-match winning streak intact in the three-match series.
Looking at the previous match performance, India expects big hits from their batswomen, especially Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana in the top order. Both of them however have failed to give a good start in the last match This would be the prime reason why India lost the game against Australia.
Shefali and Smriti have enough skills to tear apart the opposition’s bowling attack and India needs to make sure that Ellyse Parry and Darcy Brown do not overpower them as they did in the first match.
Perry and Brown performed splendidly in the earlier match. Brown took the wicket of Shefali and Smriti in the sixth over and turned the game in favour of Australia.
From an Indian point of view at least one of the two openers will have to stick to it while the middle-order, led by skipper Mithali Raj, will also have to focus on scoring runs with a good run rate.
Veteran batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur missed her first match due to a thumb injury. Her return will surely strengthen the middle order. The team also needs more solid performance from Deepti Sharma.
21-year-old Yastika Bhatia, the left-handed batswoman, played well in her debut in the last match. Bhatia scored 35 runs in front of a world-class Australian bowling attack.
The Australian top order has great batswomen like Rachel Haynes, Alyssa Healy and captain Meg Lanning. All three have scored half-centuries in the previous match.
The Indian bowlers, led by Jhulan Goswami, will also have to find a way to pick early wickets. They have to put pressure on Australian batswomen.
