ICC Drops Men’s ODI Player Rankings As Bumrah Loses Top Spot

India’s recently concluded ODI matches against England had a major impact on the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings. A lot of players gained big jumps or slipped down the pecking order with one of the biggest changes being the top ranked bowler.

The International Cricket Council released its latest Men’s player rankings on Wednesday which saw Bumrah drop down from his position at the top. New Zealand’s Trent Boult re-claimed the ‘numero uno’ position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowlers Rankings.

Despite Bumrah’s drop who missed the last ODI against England due to injury, other Indian bowlers saw a massive jump in the rankings. Yuzvendra Chahal now sits at the 16th spot in ranking after gaining a four-spot jump. The leggie claimed seven wickets during the ODI series against England to gain the rise.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya also rose up in the all-rounders department after dominating with bat as well as the ball against the Three Lions. He moved up by 13 places and broke into the top 10, currently sitting at the eighth spot after claiming six wickets while making 100 runs in the three-match series.

Speaking about all-rounders, English star Ben Stokes bowed out of top 10 after suffering from a 4-spot drip in the latest rankings. Fellow countrymen Chris Woakes also fell two spots in both the both bowlers as well as the all-rounder lists as he did not play against India in the white ball series.

Moving onto the batters, Rishabh Pant stole the limelight with an unbeaten 125 in the last ODI against England which helped him gain a massive a rise of 25 spots to 52nd overall on the list for batters. Pandya also had excellent outings with the bat which saw him gain eight spots and move up to the 42nd spot amongst batters.

England’s Jason Roy also has jumped to 16th after scoring 40 + consecutive scores in the last two ODIs. South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen scored his third ODI century and jumped three spots with the Indian duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma alongside Quinton de Kock dropping down.
