The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the white balls teams for their upcoming T20 and One Day international (ODI) matches against India. The Three Lions will square off against the Men in Blue in limited over games right after the completion of the ongoing one-off Test match.
The matches against India will be Jos Buttler’s first assignment as the full-time captain of England. The wicketkeeper-batter is handed the reins of Three Lions in the limited overs format after Eoin Morgan decided to retire from international cricket.

The ECB has called up Lancashire seamer Richard Gleeson for the first time with the seamer added to the T20I squad. The 34-year-old played well for Lancashire in the Blast this year and could well be on the way to making his debut against the Men in Blue. He is the most notable selection in Buttler’s first squads as England’s full-time white-ball captain.
A notable absentee from the English team is Adil Rashid. The all-rounder is currently on a Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and has been granted permission to miss the series. In the absence of Rashid, Matt Parkinson has been given the opportunity to be the frontline spinner in both the squads.

Apart from Rashid, all the key English players featuring in the rearranged fifth Test against India have been rested for the T20I series. The likes of Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Stokes are set to get a small break before they return to set up for the ODI matches.
Various ECB officials like red- and white-ball coaches in Brendon McCullum and Matthew Mott, alongside England’s managing director of men’s cricket Rob Key were involved in the selection. The players selected for the T20Is will be rotated with England playing three games in four days.
Speaking about the ODI teams, Harry Brook is one of the new faces in the team. He is set for an opportunity in the middle order with a slot opening following Morgan’s retirement. The notable absentees from the ODI team are Luke Wood and David Payne. Craig Overton has also earned an opportunity to be a part of the ODI squad with most front-line pacers deemed unavailable due to injuries.
