Devon Conway has been ruled out of the 3rd Test match after New Zealand Cricket shared news of the opener testing positive from COVID-19. He is the fourth person from the Kiwi team set up who has been affected with the virus during the latest round of testing. Conway will join the likes of fellow countrymen Michael Bracewell and two team officials on the sidelines.

New Zealand Cricket shared statement that reads, “Conway undertook a PCR test on arrival in London on Wednesday evening in preparation for a team activity.”
NZ team physio Vijay Vallabh and strength & conditioning coach Chris Donaldson are the remaining two members of the Black Caps team who will spend 5 days in isolation. Conway, alongside the other 3 members of the NZ team will not travel with the team for the Leeds Test.
Despite travelling separately form the first team, The Kiwis could see Bracewell and Conway feature during the team’s training session if they recover in time before the match. The NZ camp will be happy by the fact that Kane Williamson has returned to the team after completing his five day isolation, which ruled his out of the previous game.

Black Caps will surely feel the absence of Devon Conway given the importance the opener holds in the team. The 30-year-old batter registered scores of 46 and 52 in the second Test while batting at no 3 as in place of NZ skipper Kane Williamson who tested COVID positive before the second Test.
Things don’t look bright for NZ with the Kiwis currently losing the ongoing series by a 2-0 margin. They will be eager to pick up a few points in the final test match in order to gain some momentum and move up on the World Test Championship Points table. The Kiwis will be eyeing a win when they take on the field for the last Test match at Edgbaston which starts on June 23. The visitors have not called up for any replacements following the exclusion of Bracewell and Conway from the team.
England on the other hand, have called up to Jamie Overton for the final Test against New Zealand. The Surrey seamer has been handed a maiden Test call which will see him join his brother Craig in English national team.
