The KL Rahul led Indian cricket team registered a massive 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe in the first ODI of the three-match series on Thursday. The Men in Blue defeated the hosts by chasing down a target of 190 with 115 balls to spare. India’s opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill played with great ease, recording scores of 81* and 82* to help the visitors take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Earlier, the Men in Blue relied on their bowling attack to trouble the Zimbabwe batters and bowl them out for a subpar total. Indian speedster Deepak Chahar was declared player of the match for his fantastic outing with the ball in the first innings of the game. The pacer, who was making a comeback following a long injury lay-off, opened the bowling and took 3 early wickets to help India gain momentum in the first innings of the game.
Speaking with the media about his performance in the post-match press conference, Deepak Chahar said, “If you get 3-4 wickets of the opposition early, then it is difficult for any team to win the game from there. Batters have to play extra-ordinary innings from there to set an extra-ordinary target.
The CSK star went on to speak about his making a comeback to the national team set up as well as his fitness following his return after nearly six months. He shared, “Every time you make a comeback, it is important for any player to score runs, and take wickets. I was out with an injury for almost six months so I was looking for an opportunity to come and perform.”

He is currently named in the amongst the reserves for the Asia Cup and was asked to comment about the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Speaking about his potential selection, Deepak Chahar said, “The selection for the T20 World Cup is not in my control, I do not know whether I will be selected or not. But skill-wise, I have worked really hard. Today, I bowled okay, I bowled seven overs on the trot, so my fitness is also okay.”
