The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce India’s squad for the upcoming T20I matches against the West Indies on 11th July. According to various reports, the squad will see the return of senior members to the Indian set up.
Earlier, BCCI had announced the team selected for the ODI series against the West Indies. It saw Shikhar Dhawan being named as the captain of the team with Ravindra Jadeja announced as his deputy. The likes of India’s all format skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya were rested for the ODIs.
However, all the above-mentioned stars are expected to be brought back in the team for the T20I series. The seasoned Indian stars are expected to be included in the T20I series and likely play in all the five games. The Indian team management is reported to have a full strength for the upcoming matches against the Caribbean outfit, with the exception of Virat Kohli.

The BCCI and Indian team’s think tank is expected to try out all the possible combinations and shortlist their players for the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
A senior BCCI source was quoted by PTI saying, “It was team management’s decision to rest Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Pandya, Bumrah for the (WI) ODI series along with the skipper himself.”

The BCCI source added, ” However for the T20I series, all others are playing but Kohli has himself asked for a break. He has informed that he will be available for all series after the West Indies tour.”

The 35-year-old last played a T20I clash for India back in November 2021 against New Zealand. He is expected to earn a possibly get a call-up for the 5-match T20I series against the Caribbean team.
