Chennai Super Kings initiated the bidding for du Plessis in the auction and Royal Challengers Bangalore joined in. CSK decided to back out with their last bid being ₹3.2 Crore. RCB thought they had managed to get their player cheap but that’s when Delhi Capitals started bidding. They went toe-to-toe against RCB but backed out after RCB bid ₹7 Crore for the player. This sealed the deal, and the South African star joined Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2022 IPL season.

Faf du Plessis has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League since the 2022 season. He was also given the captaincy in the 2022 season and has served as the Franchise’s captain since.
