Pathan’s initial breakthroughs set the tempo for the Indian team, and his contributions were very vital for India.

9. Mohammed Shami – 195 Wkts

Mohammed Shami is one of the only two players on this list who is still an active player. The player made his debut in 2013 and didn’t take much time to prove his worth as an ODI bowler. 8. Venkatesh Prasad – 196 Wkts

Venkatesh Prasad is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for the Indian Cricket Team in the 90s. He made his debut in 1994 and went on to pick up 196 wickets in just 161 One Day International (ODI) games at an average of 32.30. His best figures came against Pakistan in 1999 when he managed to pick up five wickets while conceding just 27 runs. His performances, especially in high-pressure games, made him a very dependable bowler for the Indian team.

7. Ravindra Jadeja – 220 Wkts

Ravindra Jadeja is the only other player on this list, aside from Mohammed Shami, who is still an active player. The left-arm orthodox spinner made his ODI debut on 8th February 2009 against Sri Lanka. He has made 197 ODI appearances for his country and picked up 220 wickets at an average of 36.07. His best-ever figures, 5/36, came against West Indies in 2013. Jadeja’s ability to build momentum by breaking partnerships and keeping the pressure up on the opposition has been the key to India’s successes in limited-overs cricket.

6. Kapil Dev – 253 Wkts

Kapil Dev is regarded as one of the greatest Indian players of all time. He made his debut in 1978 and played 225 ODIs, taking 253 wickets at an average of 27.45. His best-ever figures came in 1983 against Australia, when he picked up five wickets while conceding just 43 runs. Kapil Dev’s ability to create vital breakthroughs and keep the opposition under pressure made him an incredible bowler. His work left an indelible imprint in the history of Indian cricket.

5. Harbhajan Singh – 269 Wkts

Harbhajan Singh is an off-spinner who had a brilliant career for India in One Day Internationals. Zaheer Khan took part in 200 ODIs for the Indian Cricket Team and picked up 282 wickets at an average of 29.43. His best figures of 5/42 came in a game against Sri Lanka in 2007.

3. Ajit Agarkar – 288 Wkts

Ajit Agarkar is a right-arm fast bowler who debuted for India in 1998. He played 191 One Day International games for the Indian Cricket Team and picked up 288 wickets at an average of 27.85. His best figures came against Australia in 2004 when he picked up six wickets while conceding just 42 runs. Ajit Agarkar’s speciality included breaking key partnerships and picking up wickets at crucial moments, which made him such a great player for India.

2. Javagal Srinath – 315 Wkts

Javagal Srinath was a right-arm fast bowler who was regarded as one of the best bowlers of his generation. He made his One Day International debut on 18th October 1991 against Pakistan and ended up playing in 229 ODI games and picking up 315 wickets at an average of 28.08. His best figures came in a match against Bangladesh in 1998 when he picked up five wickets while conceding just 23 runs. Srinath is one of the most successful fast bowlers in ODI history.

His best figures came in a match against West Indies in 1993 when he managed to pick up six wickets while conceding a mere 12 runs. This is one of the best bowling performances in the history of One Day Internationals.
