Who Is Kashvee Gautam’s Replacement Sayali Satghare?

The second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) is all but ready to kick off and Sayali Satghare has received a surprise call. The tournament starts on February 23, 2024. There was good news for some and bad news for others before the start of the tournament. Kashvee Gautam was ruled out of WPL 2024 with an injury. While this would be heartbreaking for her, it must be a delight for Sayali Satghare, who was named as Gautam’s replacement after originally going unsold in the auction.

While Satghare will probably not be happy to see her compatriot be ruled out with an injury, she will be delighted by the fact that she gets to be a part of WPL 2024 and represent Gujarat Giants. Only time will tell if she will turn out to be just the replacement the Giants need or if they will miss Gautam’s presence in the team even more once the tournament starts.

Who Is Sayali Satghare?

Sayali Satghare is an uncapped Indian all-rounder. She was named as Kashvee Gautam’s replacement for WPL 2024 by Gujarat Giants. While Kashvee Gautam was the most expensive player in the WPL 2024 auctions, going for ₹2 Crore, Sayali Satghare was named as the replacement at a reserve price of ₹10 Lakh.

The talented all-rounder is just 23 years old but has already impressed quite a bit in this format. She has played for both Mumbai and West Zone teams. In 25 games, Satghare has taken 18 wickets at an average of 20.22, conceding just 5.20 runs per over. She also has decent batting statistics. She averages nearly 19 with a strike rate of 114.11.

She has been a part of some impressive teams recently. She reached the finals of the 2023-24 Women’s Senior Inter Zonal T20 tournament with West Zone. She was also a key part of the Mumbai side that won the 2023 Senior Women’s T20 trophy. Her most impressive performance was in the 2021 Women’s Senior One-Day Trophy. She played for Mumbai and ended with figures of 7/5 in 8.4 overs. She bowled four maiden overs and picked up seven wickets to bowl out Nagaland for just 17 runs.

Although she has had some impressive performances recently, she is not new to being under the spotlight. She has been outstanding since she first introduced herself on the big stage. In the 2018-19 Under-19 Women’s T20 League, she had astonishing figures of 6/2. While defending 184, Sayali had figures of 6/2 in three overs, including two maiden overs. She helped Mumbai to a massive win as Manipur was bowled out for just nine runs.

What Happened To Kashvee Gautam?

Kashvee Gautam was the most expensive buy at the WPL 2024 auctions. She was tied with Annabel Sutherland for the title of the most expensive pick. They both sold for ₹2 Crore each. Kashvee Gautam had thoroughly impressed cricket fans in tournaments leading up to the WPL 2024. The all-rounder was highly sought after in the auctions, leading to her getting a hefty price of ₹2 Crore.

The Indian star had impressed at the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy held in November 2023. She picked up 12 wickets in seven games at an excellent economy of 4.14. She represented India A against England A and was also a part of India’s title-winning Under-23 squad at the ACC Emerging tournament in Hong Kong. While she will be a big miss for Gujarat Giants, they hope that Sayali Satghare will end up being a suitable replacement for Kashvee Gautam.
