Ruturaj Gaikwad Hits Seven Sixes In One Over; Creates History!

Ruturaj Gaikwad has rewritten record books with his knock in the quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022. The Indian batter broke multiple records on his way to scoring 220 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. The Maharashtra opener created a List A world record by hitting seven consecutive sixes in an over!

Yes, you read it right! The 25-year-old batter played some of his best cricket against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinal clash and did the thinkable on 28th November 2022. Gaikwad unleashed himself in the penultimate over of the game! Before the 49th over, Ruturaj Gaikwad was sitting at 165* off just 147 balls. Within a span of six balls, the opener propelled himself to 207 from 154 balls!

Shiva Singh was the Uttar Pradesh bowler who conceded seven sixes to Ruturaj Gaikwad  in the 49th over of Maharashtra’s innings. The first three went for sixes before the no-ball (4th delivery) was also dispatched over the boundary. The batter continued the carnage and smashed all the remaining balls for sixes as well, scoring 42 runs in that particular over.

Ruturaj Gaikwad remained not out on 220, smashing sixteen maximums against Uttar Pradesh to steer his team towards a healthy score of 330 at the end of 50 overs.  He also ended up matching Rohit Sharma’s record of scoring the most sixes by an Indian in a single List A innings.
