Indian wicket keeper Sanju Samson has spoken on what’s next for him after he missed out on being selected in the national team for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. He has gone on to speak about his preparation in the last few years and claimed how the fight to break through in the national squad is more challenging than ever citing the quality being produced in Indian cricket right now.
The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter claimed how a player needs to be flexible and have various dimensions in his game in order to be successful. Sanju Samson was quoted saying, “Playing different roles is something I have worked on for a lot of years. I am confident of batting anywhere in the order. I am an opener or I am a finisher. In the last three-four years, playing in various roles and spots has added a new dimension to my game.”
The Rajasthan Royal captain has played in 16 T20Is and 7 One Day Internationals for the Men in Blue so far. He claimed that there is a lot of competition to get an opportunity in the Indian team and breaking through in the 15-man squad is extremely challenging.

Sanju Samson stated, “It really does get challenging. Finding a place in the Indian team is really challenging. There is a lot of competition around, even within players who are in the team now. When these things happen, it is important to focus on myself. I am happy with the way I am performing. I want to improve.”
The 27-year-old is currently captaining the India A side in their ongoing three List A games against New Zealand A. Speaking on playing in the A series, Sanju Samson revealed how happy to lead the national A team as such series keeps the fringe players in the selection radar.
“The quality of cricketers we have in our team is unbelievable. So, it really helps each and every individual to raise their level. We keep on challenging ourselves. We try to perform every time we get an opportunity/ They are really important. There is not much difference between an A game and international game. The competition is almost the same. so it is important to make use of the opportunities,” Sanju Samson said.
