Australian Test match captain Pat Cummins shared his thoughts on star Indian batter Virat Kohli ahead of their highly anticipated clash. The Aussie star went on to reveal that he did not follow the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022. However, the 29 year old also revealed how he was aware of Virat Kohli’s return to form with the 33-year-old scoring his long awaited 71st international century in the tournament.
Kohli had a torrid time with the bat in the recent past with the middle order batter struggling to get runs for the last few years. However, he bounced back in style at the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 where he ended up being the second highest run-scorer. The Delhi based star recorded 276 runs in five innings which saw him smash two fifties and a come back century.
Speaking about taking on Virat Kohli during Australia’s upcoming tour to India, Cummins claimed how getting rid of the former Indian captain will be a challenge for his unit. Replying to a Hindustan Times, the Aussie was quoted on Sunday saying, “To be totally honest, I didn’t see any of that tournament. I think Sri Lanka won? Honestly, I didn’t see any of it. I saw Virat Kohli, I think he scored a hundred, yeah he’s a class player, he was always going to return to form at some point in time. He’s going to be a challenge this next week.”

Cummins went on to speak about the conditions in India while sharing how the team is preparing to talk on the Men in Blue for the upcoming T20I series. He said, “I think a lot of games in India are played at a different pace as compared to Australia, the boundaries are normally a bit smaller. I think you need to adapt really quickly, you will have some days where the wicket is a bit slower, then cutters and those types of things are really important for the bowlers.
“So, everyone here has played a lot in India and everyone understands it. It is a format you have to be up for, and if it does not work on the day, then you need to move on quickly from it,” Cummins added.
