Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has frequently been in the news for his antics and opinions. Recently, the ex-cricketer captured the limelight after he suggested that Virat Kohli should quit international cricket. The 42-year-old is known for announcing his retirement from international cricket, only to get back and feature for the Men in Green.
A lot was spoken about Virat Kohli’s career because of his form which resulted in Afridi stating that the former India skipper could face the axe. After calling Kohli a champion, Shahid Afridi went on to state that the 33-year-old should consider retirement and leave the sport on a high instead of being potentially dropped from the team.
Speaking on Samaa TV, the former Pakistan captain said, “The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high.”

“It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career,” Shahid Afridi added.
Following the all-rounders’ statement on Kohli, former India spinner Amit Mishra took to Twitter and gave a solid response to the Pakistani counterpart. He did not shy away expressing his thoughts and captured the heart of Indian cricket team fans with his answer. Responding to Shahid Afridi ‘s comment, Mishra wrote: “Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this.”
