Sanjay Manjrekar Said THIS On India’s 4-1 Win Over West Indies

Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has gone on praising the Men in Blue’ recent victory in the 5-match T20I series against the West Indies in the USA. He went on to claim how the Caribbean outfit are not “minnows or rollovers” when it comes to T20Is and shared that the India National Cricket team should be proud of their recent series triumph.

The Rohit Sharma-led side headed into the T20I matches after recording a massive 3-0 whitewash against the Men in Maroon during the ODI series. Following a 3-0 win in the One-day format, the Indian cricket team managed to replicate those performances in the shortest format of the game.

The visitors started off well, registering a 68-run win in the first T20I before the hosts pulled one back. Following a small blip of loss, the Men in Blue returned to record three back-to-back wins, 1 in the West and the remaining 2 in USA to clinch the five-match T20I series by a 4-1 margin.

Speaking at the Sports 18 show “Sports Over the Top,” Sanjay Manjrekar shared his opinion on India’s victory against the West Indies. He went on to claim how the Men in Blue should be given credit for defeating the hosts with such comprehensive performances on home turf in the T20I series.

He said, “Let’s be nice to the West Indies. They are good people to hang with and stuff like that. No credit can be taken away from India for these wins. West Indies in T20 cricket are no minnows or rollovers. So India’s win and the way they have won in the five T20s is something to be proud of. There were various permutations and combinations. India didn’t play a single wrist-spinner in the first three T20Is and then they unloaded two wrist-spinners in the last two.”

Sanjay Manjrekar went on to share how the Men in Blue experimented by making various changes to their playing XI while fielded different combinations throughout the series and still managed to win with a comfortable margin. The cricketer turned commentator has also gone on to reveal how he expects Nicholas Pooran and his team to perform well at the ICC T20 World Cup.

“Opener Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan comes in. So they have tried everything and everything has worked. So this is a great situation to be in. West Indies – you will see in the T20 World Cup, they will have some good performances against the other teams. So well done to India,” Sanjay Manjrekar added.
