Former India wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim has shared his thoughts on the Men in Blue as they look to shortlist players with 2 major tournaments coming ahead. The Indian team has been making various changes in their playing combination and experimenting with various players in the last few months.
Many young cricketers have been given an opportunity to impress at the highest level so far. India’s left arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh who recently broke into the team is one of the players who could be a long-term asset for the Indian team. Saba Karim has gone on to speak about the young speedster and spoke about the bowlers’ chances of making it to the ICC T20 World Cup squad.
Arshdeep Singh broke onto the season after fantastic performances for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. The 23-year-old speedster took up the task of bowling death overs and managed to strangle the batsman with his accurate line and lengths.

The young left-arm pacer has also been economical when bowling in the toughest overs of the innings while also showing his wicket-taking abilities. Citing all the positives, Saba Karim sees Arshdeep Singh as a potential candidate to be a part of the Indian squad that will fly to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.
Speaking about the speedster, Saba Karim revealed how the 23-year-old is multidimensional and provides variety to the bowling attack. He spoke on SPORTS18’s show ‘SPORTS OVER THE TOP’ and said, “I have high hopes from Arshdeep Singh because he adds so much of variety to the attack. Plus he’s kind of multidimensional in terms of the slots of overs that he can come in and bowl. “
He added, “Plus, he is learning each and every day and you need that kind of left armer in your attack who has got so much of variation. So yes, I think he’s pretty high on the picking order in terms of world cup selection.”
Currently, the young pacer is part of the Indian team which is touring the West Indies. Arshdeep Singh has fared well in the first three T20Is and will be focused on replicating such strong performances in the remaining two games. After the West Indies series, India’s next T20 assignment would be the Asia Cup with the 6 nation tournament acting as a platform for sub continental teams to prepare for ICC T20 World Cup.
