Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has claimed that the Men in Blue needs to add more players in a certain department ahead of the highly anticipated 50 over World Cup. The 44-year-old batter shared that the team needs to have more all-rounders around the national team set up before major ICC events.
India is all set to host the upcoming ICC Men’s World Cup next year. The sub-continent team has been named as the hosts of the 50-over World Cup in 2023. It will see the ICC event return to India after 12 years, as they last hosted the tournament back in 2011 alongside Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The Men in Blue famously went on to win their second World Cup title becoming the first side to win the ICC Men’s World Cup final on home soil. Since their win in 2011, the likes of Australia and England have also gone on to win the ICC World Cup on home turf in 2015 and 2091 respectively.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has claimed that the Indian cricket team needs to have good all-rounders in the team that are fit. He shared how the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja should be in top physical condition ahead of the 2023 World Cup. The duo had their fair share of injuries in the recent past which has hampered their cricket.
The former Indian batter claimed that the availability of a various bowling options had a major factor in India’s 2011 World Cup victory. He shares that the Men in Blue need to have that in the team once again before the mega event. Speaking during an interview with CricTracker, Wasim Jaffer said, “Before the 2023 World Cup, I believe that India should focus on finding an all-rounder. For Hardik Pandya to be able to bowl, I think it is crucial. It will be very balanced for him to have Ravindra Jadeja with him.”
Wasim Jaffer added, “Having two all-around players is fantastic. the 2011 World Cup gave us a lot of alternatives. With the ball, Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag were able to contribute. In addition to his outstanding batting performances, Yuvraj Singh, in particular, made significant bowling contributions. “
