Zynga Poker begins WPT-Themed Tournaments

When you talk to some professional poker players in the industry today, a huge majority of them will tell you that their journey began with Zynga Poker, which is the most popular free-to-play poker app in the world. The social poker product has raked in millions of dollars for Zynga Inc., even though it doesn’t involve real-money gaming.

In February this year, Zynga Poker went on to partner with World Poker Tour (WPT), which is one of the biggest global brands when it comes to live poker tournaments and entertainment. They signed this multi-year partnership with WPT to bring the latter’s tournaments onto the Zynga Poker platform.

A few months later, Zynga Poker players can now play in these WPT-themed tournaments as was planned by the company. Players on the social gaming app can now enter WPT Tournament mode, where they can ‘play like a pro’ on WPT-themed final tables. This mode is available at higher play-money stakes than Zynga’s usual tournaments.

“Our World Poker Tour themed tournaments enhance our free-to-play Zynga Poker social casino experience and bring the most premier name in the sport of poker directly into the player’s hands. We are thrilled to invite the World Poker Tour into our virtual world to create an even more authentic and immersive experience that players will love,” said President of Publishing at Zynga, Bernard Kim.

Zynga Poker is the company’s most profitable game in their free-to-play portfolio, generating over $38 million in revenue for the company in 2018 Q2. Now, WPT will take advantage of Zynga Poker’s popularity to promote their own brand via these Zynga Poker WPT-themed Tournaments.

Zynga Poker further went on to sponsor NASCAR racer Matt DiBenedetto, whose car will now show both the Zynga Poker and the WPT logos when he races.
