Zhou Yun Peng emerged victorious in the recently concluded World Series of Poker (WSOP) China Main Event. Peng claimed the title for INR $367,000 (INR 2.35 crores) along with the Champions Cup as well as the first WSOP gold bracelet in Asia. As per WSOP.com, Hebei based Peng had the least experience in live poker tournaments where prior to this one he had never participated in a live poker tournament. Peng defeated Long Rong in the heads-up battle with pocket Deuces. Rong was holding Ace-Eight where both of the players went all-in pre-flop and then board came down giving Peng a flush and also made history winning the first bracelet in China.
Earlier, this year the WSOP and Tencent Poker made a deal to partner up. Ty Stewart, Executive Director of WSOP, explained the partnership, stating, “There is so much untapped potential in Asia and we’ve found the perfect partner in Tencent to help spread the great game throughout the entire continent. We plan to use the WSOP brand and our expertise, along with Tencent’s reach in Asia, to inspire the next generation of competitive sports players.”
