WSOP 2021: Aditya Agarwal Misses Gold, Finishes In Runner-Up Position

The 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #76: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em reached its end today with Romain Lewis winning his first gold bracelet. However, it was a bittersweet moment for Indians as the runner-up position was claimed by poker pro, Aditya Agarwal. Despite a massive 55 big blind lead, Agarwal ended up in the second position. He took home a prize money of $286,705.

With his tremendous poker experience, Agarwal quickly crushed his opponents and climbed up the ranks to end up on  the final table of the tournament with the biggest chip stack. Here, with sound strategy, he held his position and knocked out Barth Melius, Uri Reichenstein, Stephen Chidwick in fifth, fourth, and third place, respectively.

The moment Chidwick was eliminated in third place, the heads-up play kicked-off between Agarwal and Lewis. During the heads-up battle, Agarwal lost 2,830,000 chips to Lewis, ending his chip lead position. The back-and-forth between the players continued with Lewis continuing to chip up. In the final hand, Lewis held a

and jammed from the big blind position. Agarwal with promptly called with his short stack. When the board opened to  . , Lewis won with a pair of tens and took the prestigious WSOP gold bracelet home, leaving Agarwal in the second position.

However, Agarwal was not the only Indian player to miss the bracelet. Fellow player and bracelet winner, Kartik Ved also busted in the 22nd position in Event #75 Freezeout  No-Limit Holdem. Ved took home $8,136 for his efforts. With both Agarwal and Ved exiting in their respective games, India’s hope for another WSOP bracelet slips away once again.
