This year, one of world’s major poker tours, World Poker Tour (WPT) is bringing its series to Taiwan. WPT Taiwan will be played in Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker (CTP) Club between 12-22 July 2019. The series will be the first time ever in Taiwan, only possible with WPT’s new partnership with CTP.
The festival will begin in July and the highlight Main Event will have a buy-in of TWD 30,000 (~INR 67k). The ME is scheduled between 17-21 July and will have 3 starting flights, Day 2 and Final Day all back-to-back. Other buy-ins for the series range from TWD 4,000 to TWD 55,000.
CTP has eight clubs throughout Taiwan and Taipei City’s club is the largest venue of them all, featuring more than 25 tables spread across their poker room. David Tai, CTP Club President said, “Taiwan is a great country, and people here are filled with passion, with lots of shopping and fine dining places, along with amazing poker.”
Tai added, “Streets here are clean and safe, with heightened security. All of these attractions make Taiwan one of the hottest travelling spots in the world!” Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management for WPT also weighed in saying, “Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association is an exciting venue and the World Poker Tour looks forward to partnering with their fantastic team.”
She further said, “The WPT continues to expand into the Asia-Pacific and WPT Taiwan will be another spectacular event to highlight the best the region has to offer.” Hael was recently nominated for the GPI 2019 Global Poker Awards in the Best Tournament Director Category.
Taiwan is fast becoming a popular Asian poker destination. It recently hosted the 2019 J88 Poker Tour (J88PT) and the ME was won by local pro Chi Hang for a good amount. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for more such news from around the world.
