The last event of the 2022 Triton Poker Cyprus crowned Winfred Yu as the champion after he shipped Event #5: $75,000 Short Deck for $1,010,000. Yu battled his way to the top from a field of 41 entries and claimed his second Triton Poker crown.
Yu did not have the best start when he went into heads-up with Ivan Leow who is known to be a friend. The two-time Triton Poker champion started with a chip deficit but favourable runouts made it possible for him to chip up quickly. Yu defeated his long time friend Leow who ended up in the runner-up position for $699,500.
Out of the 41 entries, only the top six players made the money. Player Wei Hsiang Yeu was the bubble boy of the tournament. Ferdinand Putra from Poland was the first player to be eliminated in 6th place for $208,500. The play continued for two more hours before Daniel Dvoress exited the final table in 5th place for $268,000.
Elton Tsang from Hong Kong was defeated by Danny Tang after his ace-queen lost to Tang’s pocket kings. Tsang walked away in 4th place for $343,000. Tang was the next casualty to bust in the 3rd position for $447,000. The heads up battle was then down to Leow and Yu and the latter took the crown.
