India vs England Test Series 2021: Injury Updates, Playing11, Live Streaming & Other Updates

India vs England Test Series 2021: Injury Updates, Playing11, Live Streaming & Other Updates: Team England is suffering a major setback before the home test series with India begins. The star-all-rounder Ben Stokes took a break from cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Commission provided this information on Friday night. The England vs India test series 2021 would start on August 4th. 32-year-old Stokes has attributed his decision to prioritize mental health. He is also uncertain whether he will be competing in this year’s T20 World Cup.

The England and Wales Cricket Commission (ECB) said in a statement that Stokes is taking a break due to a finger injury that had not fully healed since returning to cricket earlier this month. Amid the pandemic, the mental health of cricket players has become a hot topic. Ashley Giles, managing director of men’s cricket in England, said the ECB would support Stokes’ decision. Giles, a former English spinner, said Stokes showed tremendous courage to speak openly about his feelings and happiness.

He said that being in a safe environment for months affected the players. It is very difficult to spend time away from the family with minimal freedom. For the past 16 months, this environment has continuously had a major impact on everyone.

Giles said Stokes would be given time to return. “Ben will be given as much as he needs and I look forward to seeing him play cricket for England in the future,” added Giles. Craig Overton replaced Stokes for England in the Indian series.

Stokes has returned to the British test team for a series with India. He did not participate in the two-test series with New Zealand in June. At that time, he was recovering from his injury. Stokes, who played for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021 season, dropped out of the tournament after playing just one match.

He suffered a finger injury while catching Chris Gayle in a match against Punjab Kings XI. He came to bat twice. After this, the Rajasthan franchise confirmed a broken finger and he was benched for the entire tournament. Stokes played a key role in winning England’s ODI World Cup in 2019. He was named the Wisden Reading Cricket of the Year in the same year. His absence would definitely affect the English side during the England vs India test series 2021.
