Who Are Harshad Barve’s Top 3 Indian MTT Players?

With some of the best and biggest poker tournament series lined up in the coming months, both online and live, itself is a testimony of the growing scope of poker in India. With players more excited than ever before, and organisers on the tip of their toes, we can’t wait for the poker tournaments to take the game a level higher. 

Players are gearing up for the poker season to put their best skills to work and emerge as the best in the country. Meanwhile, we spoke to Harshad Barve, who himself is a well-known and respected multi-table tournament (MTT) player in the country, about who, according to him, are the best players in the country currently. 

Who is Harshad Barve?

Harshad Barve is one of the most regarded and talented players in the country. He started off as a cash game player and gradually moved to playing MTTs. He has been around in the circuit for over a decade now. He nailed the first live cash of his career with a title in 2012 at the No Limit Hold ’em – Six Max High Roller event at PokerGuru Tour Season 2 for a lustrous ₹8,00,000. Within just 10 days, he shipped his second title at Asian Poker Tour (APT) Goa 150,000 No Limit Hold ’em – High Roller Event. 

According to Hendon Mob, he has $57,925 in live tournament earnings. His best live score so far is $17,963, which he won at the No Limit Hold ’em – High Roller event at India Poker Championship (IPC) in January 2020 held in Goa.

Being such an instrumental player himself, Barve heartily told us which three players he thinks are currently ruling the MTT charts in India. So here are Harshad Barve’s top MTT players:

Anuj Yadav

Anuj Yadav

It is not surprising to see Barve name Anuj Yadav as his pick for the top MTT players. When asked why he would name Yadav, he says Yadav’s aggression and consistency in his approach. We don’t disagree! Yadav has, time and again, proved himself through his consistent efforts and consistent results. 

The young pro has managed to hone his game in a short span in both live and online versions of the game. Although he does not have a live title yet, the list of his online titles seems to have no end, with over 300 titles already under his belt. He recently made it on the final table of India Poker Championship (IPC) Megastacks May 2022 100K Highroller, where he bagged his biggest cash of $8,408 (₹6,51,200).

Barve next picks Siddhanth Kripalani as his next favourite MTT player. “I choose Siddhanth Kripalani for his aggression and just the ability to be good in both live and virtual felts,” Barve says. 

Last year Kripalani claimed his first live title by taking down IPC Megastacks May 2022 Main Event in Nepal for ₹39,72,3700. But he did not stop there. He went on to claim another title at the Adda52 Colossus Highroller event for ₹45,28,000 in Goa. With close to 100 titles and countless online cashes, Kripalani is undoubtedly one of the most promising names in the Indian circuit.

Gaurav Sood was one of the most favourite MTT players in India. We earlier spoke to Poker pros Abhishek Goindi, Kunal Patni and Raghav Bansal, and all three of them named Sood as their favourites. When asked why he chose Sood, he said replied, “I don’t have to say much why he is the best.”

Sood is undoubtedly one of the best MTT players that the country has, and his results speak for him. Last year, he won his first live title at the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) Kick-off event. Later, he took down the No Limit Hold’em – Deepstack event at Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila.
