The PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship 2023 finally crowned its new champion in Aliaksandr Shylko from Belarus. The 26-year-old player took down the PSPC 2023 No-Limit Hold’em Championship event for his career-best cash of $3,121,838. The title winner struck an ICM deal with Germany’s Max Menzel (2nd for $2,859,990) and Brazil’s Philipe Pizzari (3rd for $2,524,871). After agreeing for the payouts in the ICM deal, the three players locked horns for the shiny trophy and $300,000 prize money.

Winner found on the very first heads-up hand

At Level 36: Blinds 400,000-800,000, 800,000 ante, Shylko played with Th 5s and his rival Max Menzel sat with Jc 9s. Preflop had Shylko limping in from the button while Menzel checked his option from the big blind position. The dealer fanned out a flop of 8c 5h 5d. Menzel made a min-bet of 800,000 and his heads-up rival called whilst being ahead with his three of a kind.

The turn presented Ts and Menzel made a bet of 2,800,000 given his straight draw. Here, Shylko just matched the bet despite making a full house (clearly containing his excitement while betting).

The river brought Qc, which improved Menzel’s hand to a straight and saw him shove his chips (12,300,000) after his rival threw in a bet of 4,500,000. Shylko then snap-called as expected. Menzel’s hand had no strength to beat Shylko’s full boat and he bowed out in second place in the very first hand of the heads-up clash.
