Vinay B wins Elite on Spartan

The Spartan Poker is the only online poker site that has dedicated tournaments for days. Last night saw 15L GTD ‘The Elite’ tournament with 165 participants registered to it. With a buy-in of INR 11,000, the prizepool reached INR 16.50 Lakhs which was distributed to top 17 places with a min-cash of INR 25,905.

Finishing on top was Vinay B a.k.a ‘Minimalist’ from the southern part of India who knocked down these entries for the title and first place prize of INR 4,15,140. He defeated ‘stupefy’ in the heads-up battle where the second place finisher took home INR 280,500 for his impressive run.

The final hand of the tournament came in Level #42 with blinds running 16,000-32,000-4,000. Just like most of the tournaments, the heads-up opponents decided to shove pre-flop holding ‘stupefy’ with Qd 8d and ‘Minimalist’ with As 9d. The board ran Ts 6s 7c 4h 6d which gave a pair of, Sixes with Ace kicker to ‘Minimalist’ and the title. ‘stupefy’ was eliminated in second place.

On the win, Vinay B said, “Elite is one of my favourite tournaments throughout the week, always look forward to it, love playing 6 max MTT’s as the concentration levels are much higher in these events and the challenge when met is highly satisfying, have had few FTs in this particular in past too and as recent as last week I chopped 3 way! The competition was tough especially in the FT as there were some tough people to beat like Sriharsha Doddapaneni who is a beast in MTT’s, and even the HU play was a tough one but we managed to cross all that and finish on top!
