The weekend is looked at with great anticipation by most people in a 9-to-5 job. But even those who do not work conventional hours, like poker players, are excited about the opportunity to play on the weekend because of the tremendous value on offer at most online poker sites. One of those top sites is The Spartan Poker where its ongoing Spartan Super Series (SSS) is heading into the final stages of completion. The penultimate day’s action saw ‘Toogle09’ claim the first title of the day by winning the Lite version of their popular DareDevil tournament.
As most regulars at Spartan know, there are ‘Lite’ versions of many of their popular featured tournaments taking place in the afternoon slot. These follow the same format as their evening features except that their buy-ins are slightly smaller as are their guarantees. In this particular tournament, the buy-in was INR 1,500 for a pretty healthy guaranteed prizepool of INR 3.5 Lakhs. And busted players in this format are allowed to rebuy for a 50% discount on the price of the original buy-in giving the DareDevil a nice little twist. 132 entries surpassed the guarantee to take the final prizepool to INR 3,87,212 which would be distributed among the top 18 finishers. All the ITM finishers were guaranteed a payday of INR 6,195 for their efforts.
One of the names that has been a regular fixtures in these SSS updates we bring you is that of ‘M@neyM@ker’, who has been on quite the hot streak. He has had some deep runs in the course of this series which includes 3 SSS titles, his latest finish being a win in yesterday’s Elite (Lite) tournament. He is currently in second position on the SSS Leaderboard which offers 10 Lakhs in cash prizes with INR 4 Lakhs going to the topper. M@neyM@ker was looking like he was heading to another title but fell just short in third place for another handsome score of INR 42,593. His departure meant that headsup battle for the eventual winner will be played between Toogle09 (1.3 million) and ‘Matt999’ (1.8 million). The latter had a small lead but Toogle09 did not allow that to deter him as both players fought strongly against each other for over 30 minutes before it came down to the final hand. It was a classic pair vs. pair clash with Toogle09 (As Ad) holding the upper hand against Matt999’s 6c 6s. All the chips went in on the flop but with no help for Matt999 on the board 8d 2s 3s Qc Td, Toogle09 was declared the winner of this opening event of SSS Day 6. The winner got a sum of INR 99,707 while runner-up took home an amount of INR 66,019.
The first tourney of the day is in the bag and we’ve got four more roundups for you coming right here on GutshotMagazine.com so stay tuned!
