The government has announced that a cash prize of Rs 1 crore₹ will be given to the players of the state hockey team who won the bronze medal in the men’s hockey match against Germany in Tokyo Olympics 2021. The announcement was made by Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi. He tweeted that this is a historic day for Indian hockey. Looking forward to coming back with a more prestigious Gold Medal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with Indian hockey team captain Mandeep Singh, coach Graham Reed and assistant coach Piyush Dubey. Modi extended special congratulations to all the members of the team on the occasion.
