Team Deccan Aces wins Poker Sports League Season 3 Virtual

Poker Sports League (PSL) is one of its kind tournament series in India. This platform has been changing the way the game is looked at. Two seasons of PSL were held in a live set-up while Season 3 Virtual was held online.

Team Deccan Aces captained by Kunal Patni shipped the inaugural virtual tournament series yesterday. The team is owned by poker players Sam Reddy and Vijay Madduri. Deccan Aces team includes players like Abhishek Rathod, Rajat Sharma, wildcard entries were Muskan Sethi and Chiraag Patel. There were two online qualifiers, Myron Pereira and Dhirendra Kumar. Season 3 Virtual began on 18 January and lasted till 20 February. Talking about winning the tournament, Madduri mentioned that it was an extremely proud moment for the team. This is the first year that Madurri co-owned a team and he was very thrilled with the team’s victory.

Strategies

Madurri added that they looked at the format, strengths and weaknesses of opposition teams, points at stake in each round and accordingly decided the gameplay. Along with this, the team practised and used the experience and advice of the senior players to improve the play. In the same manner, Kumar who was one of the online qualifiers of the team mentioned that all of them played solid poker, and while playing against pros they could not afford to commit mistakes as all events were freezeout tournaments.

While Madduri and Kumar mentioned a few strategies, the captain more or less mentioned that there were no specific strategies that they followed. As the captain Patni emphasized that it was very important for him to study the players and their strengths and weaknesses as per the rules that PSL had set.

Developments in every stage

Deccan Aces employed thorough planning and stuck to impeccable execution, says the co-owner Madduri. While Kumar emphasized on the fact that their mantra was to take in all the positivity, avoiding mistakes in the gameplay and to play the best game possible. The five week ride was special mainly for the captain, as he also mentions the team’s victory during Virtual Poker League a few months ago.

The team was filled with people who were doing pretty well and that worked in the team’s favour, said Kunal Patni. He added, having Sam Reddy and Madduri was just an added bonus. Furthermore, Patni wants to win Spartan Poker’s Millionaire tournament among others. Dhirendra Kumar plans to take a break, and he wants to utilise this time to focus on the upcoming Final Table Series.

Deccan Aces played with immense grit and technique and eventually clinched the winning title.
