Sushant wins Spartan Destiny after HU deal with Mahboobani

Yesterday saw yet another one of Destiny tournaments being hosted, currently in its 8th edition on Spartan Poker. The tournament, being a feature one, always attracts a lot of top talents from across the country, but yesterday’s Destiny was special, since two of the giants of the community, Aditya Sushant and Sahil Mahboobani were pitted against each other in heads-up.

Destiny INR 20 Lakhs GTD began at the usual 7.30pm last evening and lasted about 8 hours till 3.31am today morning. The playing field consisted of a total 509 entries, including 72 re-entries and 220 re-buys. Top 40 places were paid for a min-cash of INR 15,270.

Sushant, playing under ‘SuperuSer’, topped the hefty field and emerged as the victor in the tournament, after making an ICM deal with Mahboobani aka ‘ImHighIshove’ in heads-up. Sushant eventually took home INR 5,99,873 as his part of the deal and is now the 5th entrant to the Destiny 8.0 SnG Finale which is scheduled on 3rd April 2019. Mahboobani also earned a decent pay-check of INR 4,94,476 on Spartan last night.

Leading up to the heads-up deal, Sushant had already accumulated a decent stack of over 5 million chips and was sitting comfortably with over 2.5:1 chip lead over Mahboobani. They both saw no point continuing against each other and settled for a chop.

The champion, Sushant, has staggering achievements on both online and live felts. He is a phenomenal player and a celebrity in the community. Any newcomers entering the scene will be awestruck looking at his awesome record. In the live scene, apart from his WSOP bracelet win in 2017, he has made multiple deep runs and title wins from many prestigious series like 2018 WPTDS India2018 APT Finale2018 BLT, etc.

Sushant was also a part of Team India at the recently held PPPoker World Championship (PPWC) and played well there, but eventually Team Thailand won the event. Poke aficionados like Sushant never stop with one win and these earnings last night too will be converted to more in coming time.

There were plenty of pros in contention last night. Out of the top 40 paid places, the notables were Arjanveer Chadha and Shravan Chhabria finishing on the FT at 5th (INR 1,14,525) and 8th (INR 63,625) respectively. Other knowns to finish in the money were Sahil Agarwal (9th), latest IOPC ME winner Ashish Munot (12th), Kunal Vohra (13th), Nadeem Basha (18th), Anant Purohit (25th), Mayank Jaggi (27th), Chandan Arora (29th), Abhineet Jain (30th), Anirban Das (32nd), Guneet Kwatra (33rd) and others.
