Suraj Mishra finishes second in WSOP Mini Main Event for $586K!


While the domestic felts were packed with action, the limelight was on the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online on GGPoker. Monday started with a great note as India’s ‘Mandovi’ powered through the field of 2,207 entries to become the fourth player to win the prestigious gold bracelet in the country. It was a phenomenal day for Indians as Suraj ‘M26GreenWood’ Mishra finished 2nd in the WSOP Mini Main Event giving his level-best to capture half a million, the biggest payout by any Indian!

A monstrous field of 15,205 entries were recorded, accumulating a juicy $7.22 million prize pool in the 2020 WSOP Event #63: $500 Mini Main Event $5M GTD. The top 1,600 players finished ITM for $1,356 min-cash including Georgios ‘KARAKGEO’ Karakousis (42nd, $11,915), Sikander ‘Stoked_elf’ Rajwade (40th, $11,915), Connor Drinan (21st, $18,817) and so on. The champion was crowned in Croatia’s Ivan ‘zufo16’ Zufic who clinched to an incredible $843,460 paycheck! According to Hendon Mob, Zufic has only $571 in total live earnings, which he earned in the 2019 DeepStack Championship Poker Series. The champ also finished 60th in Event #4 where he banked $ 1,432.

Members of Team India to finish in the money include ‘SharkNoScope’ (1,598, $1,356)  Event #64 winner ‘Mandovi’ (1,593, $1,356), ‘Lorath’ (1,564, $1,356), ‘DrBravestone’ (1,480, $1,356), ‘raavan’ (1,456, $1,356), ‘0B0RRA’ (1,203, $1,540), ‘effuno99’ (1,183, $1,540), ‘tbonerzaor’ (778, $2,074), ‘dk14744’ (264, $$3,837) ‘Alex_52’ (189, $5,079),  ‘sabertooth35’ (90, $7,477) and so on.

Up until now, a few moments ago, Abhinav Iyer’s 2019 bracelet win remained the highest score by an Indian in WSOP but Mishra not only finished the table in the second place but also secured the personal best score of $586,157 (~INR 4.38 Crore) – which happens to be the highest score by any Indian at the series till date!

Mishra entered the final table with a chip lead. He eliminated Fedor Kruse in the 9th place, Oleksii ‘Cold_play’ Kravchuk in the 5th place, Mishra’s next target was Daniel ‘GiveUp1905’ Saugspier who bowed out in 4th place and Daniel ‘BaccaratKing’ Neilson in 3rd place, giving way to heads-up against Zufic.

Suraj ‘M26GreenWood’ Mishra (51,362,190 chips) shoved from the button which Ivan ‘zufo16’ Zufic (707,219,078 chips) called.

The board ran {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for Zufic to flop top pair and hold his first WSOP bracelet for $843,460 and the WSOP Europe package while Mishra made the country proud with $586,157 for finishing in second place.
