SSS #12 INR 550 (250K GTD) (R+A)

There were 619 participants in this tournament who made a prize pool of INR 3,09,500. Top 24 places got a share of the prize pool with a min-cash of INR 3,095. Millionaire winner ‘hkhurana’ shipped the title with INR 71,185. ‘hkkhurana’ outlasted ‘pokerram’ in the final round where the runner-up received INR 47,818.

SSS #13 INR 1,650 (300K GTD)

This event drew 221 entries to generate a prize pool of INR 3,31,500 which was distributed to 30 places with a min-cash of INR 2,486. 29-year old professional poker player Ashish ‘rocky3705’ Ahuja based in Chandigarh shipped this tournament he said, “It’s always fun playing special series on Spartan as all the tournaments have really good structure and real good guarantees. I love FO events and it’s a real test of your skill as players can’t shove light as they can’t re-enter. I built a decent stack in the beginning then in of the hands crippled me. I opened 33’s from cut off and dealer called. I can’t re-call the name of the player. Flop came 3x 8x Tx rainbow. I bet 25% pot to induce my opponent and he fell for it and just jammed 35bb stack with Q 10. But I really got unlucky as turn was 8 and river also 8 negating my smaller full house and giving him eights full of tens. But somehow I didn’t lose hope and re built my stack from there and made it to final table 4th in CL and then being CL in top 4.”

Adding further, “Then a small swing slipping to 3/4 and then regaining CL in heads up and shipping it from that point There was hand in heads up. I opened from button/SB and aryan89 called from BB. I had A 6o. Flop came A Q 10 two spades. He checks the flop I checked back. Turn is off suit 6. Now he leads and I re raise him and he calls. River is 2. Nothing changed he checks I bet 2/3rd pot and he min re raises me. If I call here am and I loose I would have been left with only 6bb. And if I fold he would have a 3.5:1 CL on me. I so wanted to fold there because the only hand I am beating is technically a busted flush draw. I don’t see him doing this with any hand less than top 2, set or flopped straight. But the pot was so huge I made a crying call with my aces up. To my amusement he showed me same hand A 6o and we chopped but I never thought he would value re raise on river with that hand. I am happy I called off here or else I would have left with a very small stack and never know what would have been the final fate of the tournament.” BA LLB (Hons.) from Panjab Ahuja received INR 69615. He defeated another reg Ankur Aryan who plays under the moniker ‘aryan89’ who collected INR 48,730.
