As has been the trend so far in the Spartan Super Series (SSS) Gold Edition on Spartan Poker, eight tournaments were hosted yesterday, with buy-ins ranging from low to high, something for everyone. A couple of high-value tournaments hosted were TGIF (won by Wilson Yomso) and Elite (won by Ujjwal Narwal), while several other side events were also scheduled.

SSS Event #17 INR 30k GTD

INR 110 was the buy-in to the first tournament of the day which had a small buy-in and attracted a field of 184 entries plus re-entries. The knockout tournament saw the top 27 places being paid a minimum cash of INR 300 each but the player to take down the biggest prize of the tournament was Neeraj Kumar Paswan aka ‘Luckyguy1’ who became INR 6,645 richer yesterday. He beat ‘D77777’ in heads-up who took away INR 4,485 for finishing second. Talking about the victory, Kumar said, “I am happy with my win. Thanks to Spartan and FTR for providing such value games for small grinders. Keep it up…”

SSS Event #18 INR 50k GTD

Ashish Kaushik aka ‘mmonas’ seems to be enjoying himself in this edition of the SSS series on Spartan Poker, having picked up his second title so far. Here, he beat a field of 157 entries plus re-entries in this INR 99 buy-in tournament. 23 players were paid a min-cash of INR 580 and Kaushik won the title to take away the fattest pay-check of INR 11,625, beating ‘ziggyluck’ in heads-up, who won INR 7,875 for finishing second. In the final hand, both players shoved with a pair of Queens each on the flop, but Kaushik improved to a 9-K straight to win the tournament.

SSS Event #19 INR 2 Lakh GTD

This buy-in slightly rose to INR 660 in this tournament, but the participation was still decent with 198 entries plus re-buys joining the action. The top 27 players were paid a minimum of INR 2,000 each while those who ran deep took home bigger prizes. The biggest of these went to Jay Prajapati aka ‘Jayprajapati’ who would be delighted with his top prize of INR 44,300 for this effort. He beat ‘bullzeye1136’ in heads-up, who won INR 29,900 for finishing second. The SSS has been doing brilliantly to uncover newer heroes such as Prajapati and there was more to follow as the day progressed.

SSS Event #21 INR 3 Lakh GTD

Again, the buy-in took a hike, with every entry costing INR 1,100 here. A field of 143 entries registered to the early evening tournament with only the top 20 of them receiving cash prizes, the smallest prize being INR 4,020. As the event progressed, the action got more intense and when the curtains closed, it was ‘saviordeep’ who emerged as champion, banking a healthy prize of INR 72,000. The runner-up prize of INR 48,900 went to ‘Anuj1610’ after his two pairs lost to a Nines over Fives full house.

SSS Event #21 INR 2.5 Lakh GTD

The re-entry tournament had a buy-in of INR 770 and this was the last one to start before the two high value tournaments kicked off. 162 entries plus re-buys meant that the guaranteed was slightly missed but regardless, the top 23 finishers were paid out with the min-cash being INR 2,900. Divya Prakash Jain aka ‘Mrbot’ took down the title and the top prize of INR 58,125 after a tough battle with the field, beating ‘Kill Ivey’ in heads-up, who won INR 39,375. Talking about the experience, DPJ said, “Until heads-up, I was the chip leader but Kill Ivey got me in some trouble spots, otherwise all was pretty easy.”

SSS Event #24 Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakh GTD

This is a daily tournament on Spartan Poker which is getting to be a really popular one, with a buy-in of INR 1,650. A field of 209 entries plus re-buys made sure the guarantee was smashed to create a new prize pool of INR 5,67,000, which was later shared among the top 31 entries with the min-cash being INR 4,989. ‘criminal’ ended victorious in this tournament that wrapped up proceedings for the day, ending with a healthy bankroll addition of INR 1,19,921 for this effort.
