Siddharth Siddharth Talks Poker With BTech Students

Siddharth Siddharth, number one Indian Global Poker Index (GPI) poker player (2020) was the keynote speaker at the Shri Ramswaroop College of Engineering and Management (SRM CEM) Lucknow. Siddharth is an alumni of the above college. He graduated in 2014 with a BTech degree in Computer Science.

The ‘Alumni Talk’ event was especially hosted for aspiring BTech students who were eager to know more about poker. This event hosted by Manish Sharma, Director, Corporate Relations & Placement at SRM CEM was attended by over 100 students. Talking about the event, Siddharth mentioned, “The Alumni Talk was mainly aimed at students who were eager to play poker but did not have adequate knowledge on how to move ahead. Through my speech I was able to impart knowledge about the game and the poker community and more. I also ensured that the students were given information about both sides of the coin and not only the benefits.”

He further added, “As a coach who is currently mentoring three students, I was able to speak about the flipsides of choosing poker too. Rather than painting a rosy picture of poker, I gave the students a realistic approach to it. I emphasized the importance of mental health, bankroll management and more.”  There was a Q&A session hosted with the students. Siddharth added that most of the questions were about how to get started in poker? Can poker be a career option too?

How often do you come across poker players being called as chief guests in schools and colleges? Especially in India, this is a rare occurrence but the event attended by Siddharth was first of its kind. With an event like this SRM CEM is helping in building credibility for poker as a game of skill. Such events will help young minds to understand the benefits of the skill game and push the Indian poker community towards growth. We hope to see more such events in the coming time.
