Siddharth Mundada is 9th Destiny winner on Spartan

The weekly Destiny tournament has concluded its ninth week on Wednesday and only one week is left where we will have all 10 Destiny tournament winners fighting for the mega 10L Vegas Package on 7th Jan 2018. Last night saw Siddharth Mundada who plays under the moniker ‘Sidddhu’ ship the Destiny weekly tournament defeating 472 entries including ‘masterbluff’ in the heads-up battle. ‘Sidddhu’ collected INR 5,62,500 for his win plus a ticket worth INR 1 Lakh to the Destiny SnG Finale. For his runner-up finish, ‘masterbluff’ collected INR 4,12,500.

It came to an end in Level #42 with blinds running at 16,000-32,000-4,000. ‘Sidddhu’ was holding pocket tens (Ts Td) vs ‘masterbluff’s pocket queens (Qd Qh). After posting the blinds, a raise and re-raise match ended with both players pushing all-in. The board ran Qc 3s Js which put ‘masterbluff’ firmly in the lead. But 9s on the turn opened up more options for the chip leader. The dreaded 8h for masterbluff’ put paid to his hopes for a comeback giving a straight, Eight to Queen to ‘Sidddhu’ besting his opponent’s three Queens.

Mundada has been quite prolific in his poker achievements having a number of deep finishes such as a win at the Spartan Super Series (SSS) Super HighRoller for INR 14,21,000, a second place in the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July 2017 in its very first side event for INR 22,646 and more. The 25-year old resides in the wine capital of India, Nasik where apart playing poker he is pursuing his Chartered Accountancy (CA) course. He claims being a Marwari guy, is a big reason why playing cards has naturally come to him. Gutshot spoke to ‘Sidddhu’ on his poker journey and here are the excerpts:-

Congratulations Siddharth! Please tell us how did you start on your poker journey?

Back in my early college days, I was at a house party with some friends and we decided to play this new game called ‘Texas Hold’em’. None of us even knew the rules or how to play. I got lucky somehow and won quite a lot. Making some extra money during your college days is always handy and this made me play the game more frequently.

Take us on your Destiny journey.

It was smooth sailing as I rarely got into tough spots. I was catching cards as well every now and then, which made my run easy. During the middle stage of the event, I had drawn a table with very passive players which made my life easier. There was this hand on the final table where I made trips over trips and got double up from the chip leader which put me into the driving seat.

What are your plans for the live and online space?

I am yet to explore live poker. I am planning to put in more volume in online tournaments and cash games. Apart from that, I am also focusing on getting mindset coaching as well as improving my game.

Your feedback on The Spartan Poker?

The promotions on Spartan poker are very lucrative. Most of the events are high value as they offer high guaranteed prize pool with low buy-ins.

What do you plan to do with this money?

I am planning to invest a majority of it in equities and crypto currencies.

The tenth and final winner of the current Destiny 3.0 series will be announced next week and then it will be time for the big one i.e. Destiny SnG Finale scheduled for 7 Jan 2018 at 6:30 pm. Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com as we bring you more of these stories from India and around the world of poker.
