The 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the 50th anniversary of this prestigious poker festival and India is on the hunt for its third gold bracelet, and the first in a single event. We’ve had a few deep runs and now, Day 3 of Event #50: Monster Stack – $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em has come to an end, with all 5 Indians who began the day eventually busting their stacks.
Day 2 began with 457 players still in contention and Vivek Rughani was the first Indian to hit the rail, ending his chances in 324th place for a prize of $4,418 (~INR 3.06 Lakh). You would remember Rughani from his outstanding run in the 2018 WSOP Main Event, where he bagged a career best score for finishing 88th.
The next set of pay-outs saw another couple of Indians being eliminated, the first being Romit Advani in 268th place and the next being Adda52 Celebrity Pro Minissha Lamba in 252nd place, both receiving pay-outs of $5,005 (~INR 3.47 Lakh) each. Lamba comes into WSOP 2019 high on confidence, recently finishing 2nd in the WPT India High Roller in Goa.
The next one to go from Team India was Nishant Sharma and you will remember him from WSOP 2018 where he recorded the best-ever finish by an Indian player in the history of the WSOP Main Event. He finished 34th there but here in Event #50 today, he busted in 143rd place for a prize of $6,593 (~INR 4.57 Lakh)
Siddharth Mundada had the largest stack among Indian players at the start of the day and he recorded the best run too, unfortunately ending his tournament in 76th place for a prize of $10,626 (~INR 7.37 Lakh). On his maiden trip to Las Vegas, Mundada has managed 4 cashes so far in WSOP 2019, this being the best. And the best of his live poker career too!
Day 3 of the Monster Stack Event ended with Frenchman Vincent Chauve on top of the chip counts, with a massive stack of 22 million chips. He leads the final 49 players and they will return tomorrow on Day 4 with renewed energy, all aiming for the elusive bracelet and of course, the massive prize of $1,008,850 for first place.
Day 3 top 10 chip counts:
