Shravan Chhabria, Abhinav Iyer chop INSCOOP Highroller

The India Summer Championship of Online Poker (INSCOOP) is being hosted in India for the first time ever, with INR 4+ Crore being offered in series guarantees as well as an INR 1 Crore GTD Main Event. With a total of 92 events scheduled through the series, a number of tournaments are being played daily on PokerStars India, with several winners emerging.

Yesterday was another day where players came to Stars India to win big and the featured tournament of the day was INSCOOP #70: Highroller Special Edition INR 20 Lakh GTD. With a buy-in of INR 12,000, you know that only the best would feel confident of taking part. Yesterday too, a number of known players hit the virtual felts, creating the field of 164 entries (100 unique players).

It was a high-profile affair last night on PokerStars as quite a few big names ran deep, including Shravan Chhabria and Abhinav Iyer, both fairly well-known players in the Indian circuit. Eventually, it was just a few thousand chips that separated the two as they decided to strike an ICM deal in heads-up, with Chhabria taking away the title and the bigger cash prize for first place.

Chhabria plays as ‘lukBo$$13’ on PokerStars India and he has won a few major titles here before, but last night’s win would’ve been one of the more satisfying ones. 27 places were paid with a min-cash of INR 22,797 and Chhabria ran deep to find himself in heads-up with Iyer who plays as ‘abhi58’ on PokerStars India.

Before they struck the deal, many known players hit the rail including Siddhanth Kapoor (25th), Lakshpal Singh (24th), Aditya Sushant (22nd), Ashish Ahuja (17th), Abhishek Garg (14th), Harsh Dembla (12th), Rubin Labroo (11th) and others. The Final Table itself wasn’t as difficult, with not many known players on it.

As per the deal, Chhabria took away the bigger cash prize of INR 3,72,735 because of his superior chip stack at that point of time. Iyer wouldn’t have been too disappointed either, bagging INR 3,32,735 for this runner-up finish. With the World Series of Poker (WSOP) approaching, these two might make headlines again, but this time in Las Vegas.
