PokerStars LIVE hosts some of the biggest and best live poker series across the globe and their latest stop is at the Okada Manila where they’re currently hosting the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila stop. So far, we’ve completed the Kickoff Event and a few side events, and the Indian participation in Manila has been pretty decent until now.
Making the deepest run among Indian players so far at the Okada Manila was Sahil Agarwal, who recently finished 2nd in Event #3 PHP 55,000 NLHE Deepstack which began on 27th July. The event attracted 48 players and generated a prize pool of PHP 2,304,720, with Agarwal winning PHP 530,100 (~INR 7.14 Lakh) for his runner-up finish.
Agarwal is a known entity in the Indian poker community, today also being a successful coach to plenty of budding poker players. Incidentally, Agarwal’s largest live cash came in this very series last year when he collected PHP 4,656,260 (~INR 60.65 Lakh) for his runner-up finish in the 200k High Roller.
Here, he slashed through the field but wasn’t able to get past one player – Japan’s Nobuhito Ogo, who was ultimately crowned champion to go with the top prize of PHP 8,29,700 (~INR 11.17 Lakh). Only 6 players in the tournament finished in the money, each getting a min-cash of PHP 161,320.
Final Table Results:
Another event to recently conclude was the APPT Kickoff and while there were several Indians in contention over the multiple starting flights, only Vishal Tajpuria managed a cash in the tournament, finishing 41st for a prize of PHP 48,000. However, there are still plenty of tournaments yet to be played and plenty of runs yet to be made by Indian players. Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for all updates.
