Rummy : Tips & Tricks That Will Help You Become the Ultimate Rummy Champion!

Often people think that most card games like Rummy are a matter of luck and have little to do with strategy. However, the truth is that in fact rummy is all about skills, strategies, and analytical abilities. It requires strategies and methodical planning to play and win the game.

If you are keen on becoming the undisputed king or queen of this card game, here are a few basic tips you can follow:

1. You cannot overrule the importance of organized hands-

The cards are kept in an organized manner, then the odds of winning the game are high. The best way to organize the cards is by alternating the color groups. Thus, no two cards of the same color suit are kept together. Therefore there is no room for confusion, and discarding a helpful card by mistake is avoided.

2. Track your opponent’s moves-

 Calculating your moves is essential, but it is also required that you track your opponent’s moves.  Keep a vigilant eye on the cards played. Thus you can pick the right cards and also stop the opponent from picking the valuable card.

3. High point cards could mean trouble-

High point cards would be the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack, which are 10 points each. The real risk here is if you are left holding one or more of these cards and haven’t been able to pair them up by the time your opponent declares. Avoid this by trying to get rid of them early in the game if you can’t manage to pair them up soon enough.

4. The middle cards are keepers-

Middle cards can form more combinations with other middle cards as compared to low or high cards. Therefore, these cards should be preferred over high and low cards as they are versatile and offer better chances of winning.

5. Jokers are no joke –

Jokers are very important in the game as they are used as replacements for a card you’re missing in the sequence. For e.g.- Once you have a pure sequence of the same suit  ready, you can use a joker as a replacement in any of your other pairings.

6. Trick the opponent for treats-

If you can trick your opponent into getting the card of your choice, then you are a master in the game. Create an impression that you have an incomplete set in your hand and are not trying to make this one. Thus if the opponent is tricked, you may get the card of your choice and win the game.

7. It’s better to hold consecutive cards of same suit

If you retain consecutive cards in the same color other than alternate ones, the probability of winning is high since you can create a pure sequence with those cards.

    8. Do not forget the pure sequence

 Remember, if you do not have at least one pure sequence then the points of all your cards will be added towards penalty even if you have most or all of them in different sequences.
