In what can be described as an unbelievable moment on the final table, the PokerStars Sunday Million online tournament witnessed a royal flush turn up on the board for one of the players. Not only that but the board also gave the opponent a second nut flush, which was an interesting moment to watch. The online tournament had reached its final table and was streamed online for viewers to watch. The event had female poker pro Maria Ho and American poker commentator Joe Stapleton commenting on the live stream.
With blinds at 3,000,000/6,000,000 and an ante of 750,000 the two players ‘nacho2390’ and ‘DGR.POKEHER’ were dealt their hole cards. Player ‘nacho2390’ had J ❤ 9 ♣ while ‘DGR.POKEHER’ had J ♣ 2 ♠. Based on their starting cards, Stapleton commented that ‘nacho2390’ had been doing well since head’s up and would likely win this hand as well.
The flop came with T ♣ Q ♣ K ♣ falling on the board which gave ‘nacho2390’ a straight with a better flush draw than his opponent. However, things became more interesting when an A ♣ fell on the turn, completing ‘DGR.POKHER’ a royal flush and also giving ‘nacho2390’ the second-best hand. Maria Ho quickly stated that this was a “second nut flush versus a royal.” With both players having such a strong hand, both commentators were on the edge of their seats to see what would happen.
The river had a 4 ❤ which did not change anything, and it was at this point when Stapleton asked Ho if she was in ‘nacho2390’ position would she be worried about a royal flush? Ho replied not really, as there is only one hand that could beat. In the end, however, ‘nacho2390’ makes a correct decision by folding his hand. This shocked both the commentators and left viewers amazed.
PokerStars tweeted a video of the hand, which you can watch below:
So you're heads-up in the #SundayMillion, and you turn a royal flush that also gives your opponent the second nuts.
And then you wake up, except you don't, because it's actually happening. 👇 pic.twitter.com/pDAhH1YY6f
