Pranay Chawla Wins LBS Main Event, Leaderboard on Spartan

‘Buy Small Win Big’ is the mantra of the Little Big Series (LBS), a high value low buy-in series at TheSpartanPoker.com and it came to a conclusion on Sunday night with the LBS Main Event. This series finale tournament guaranteed a prizepool of INR 5 Lakhs for a buy-in of INR 1,100. The tournament saw a participation of 555 entries to make a prizepool of INR 5,55,000. The eventual winner of the Main Event was Pranay Chawla a.k.a ‘setmeup’ taking down the title and INR 1,07,670 for first-place prize. Along with the Main Event, ‘setmeup’ also came on top of the LBS leaderboard for an INR 50,000 cash prize plus a free ticket to the next Two of a Kind (2.o.K) which will be held on 8 April and The Millionaire scheduled on 15 April.

Chawla, a 25-year old business analyst spoke enthusiastically about his passion for the game, “I was introduced to poker way back in 2013 and I can safely say that I’ve played poker every single day at least for the last 2 years or so. There are so many intriguing aspects of the game, so many different strategies and approaches, one can never get tired of discussing poker. What drives me to do better every day is hope that I will one day be able to make a successful career out of poker. They say do what you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life – I believe my extraordinary passion for the game will help me cross all obstacles.”

‘setmeup’ defeated Neeraj ‘slowplayaces’ Kumar in the heads-up battle which culminated in Level #50. With the blinds running 45,000-90,000-11,250, the last hand of the tournament saw ‘setmeup’ with Ks Qh go all-in pre-flop against ‘slowplayaces’ who called with Kd Ts. The showdown saw a board of 7c 3s As 3c 9h giving a pair of Threes to both players but Chawla’s Queen kicker set up the win in this Main Event for ‘setmeup’.

Another big event of the series was the LBS Mini Biggie with a guarantee of INR 6 Lakhs for a buy-in of INR 3,300. The event saw Anant ‘Pro’ Purohit as the champion who is also an India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) side event winner. Speaking with Gutshot, Purohit said, “It was a very well structured tournament. I was a bit lucky at the end to take it down but as they say better lucky than lose. Little Big Series is a perfect opportunity to boost bankroll for players of all levels. Thanks to The Spartan Poker!”

Purohit collected INR 1,53,300 for the first place finish when he defeated ‘mjpokerfan’ in heads-up battle. ‘mjpokerfan’ took home INR 1,05,600 for the second place finish. Leaderboard:
