PokerStars LIVE at the Hippodrome To Have A Grand Reopening On 17 May

According to news reports, PokerStars LIVE at the Hippodrome Casino in London will be having a grand reopening on 17 May. Poker tournaments will also resume within the first week of restrictions being lifted. Cash games will also start running in the newly revamped poker room.

The COVID-19 lockdowns around the world left many poker players wondering when live poker will resume. While the times are certainly tough for everyone, the COVID-19 vaccines that are currently being administered to the public have been a ray of hope during these times. All poker rooms within The Hippodrome have undergone a considerable transformation with completely refurbished poker rooms for players.

Head of Poker at The Hippodrome Casino, Kerryjane Cragie expressed her excitement at welcoming players to the brand-new looking venue. “We are looking forward to throwing the doors open, hearing the rifling of chips, and the exciting sounds of a busy poker room. We have been gearing up for three months now with all the refurbishments and got the team back on site for weeks, practising, training and getting everything in order.”

In a small interview with a poker news website, Cragie explained what new changes the visitors and players can expect once they step into The Hippodrome. Everything from an outdoor smoking area to the bathrooms have been decked up. “We even have direct access with our own entrance from Leicester Square straight to the poker floor and access to our fabulous roof terraces above and to the rest of the Hippodrome casino,” she said.

Not only is the casino revamped, but all the poker rooms have also been designed keeping in mind the PokerStars brand. Many British poker players are excited to head back to the live poker scene and are eagerly waiting for the casino’s grand opening. To commemorate this occasion, there will also be a £40,000 guaranteed tournament with a £275 buy-in. The tournament will begin on 21 May and will have three starting flights.

However, there will be a few restrictions set in place to ensure the safety of their guests and staff. To implement social distancing measures, there will be protective screens in place at every table. Face masks are also mandatory and will have to be worn at all times. With limited seating available, there will be pre-registrations that will start on 18 May.

“We all missed live poker. I am so happy to see our PokerStars LIVE rooms opening up again. And I personally invite everyone to get back to the tables and start enjoying what you love, in a place that does what it can to love you back, and I’m happy to meet with anyone who has questions or suggestions,” said Cragie.
