PokerStars’ APPT Korea begins today at Paradise City

South Korea is a major Asian destination for poker indulgence. Cities like Jeju, Seoul (capital), Incheon and others have gained popularity as gambling destinations, given the fact that major multi-national companies offer casino and resort services in these cities.

PokerStars, one of the biggest poker names in worldwide poker, had announced hosting 2019 Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Korea. The series will start between 5-14 April 2019. It will make its return for the second time to Paradise City Incheon, having hosted the first last year.

Last year’s APPT Korea Main Event saw Malaysian Natural8 Pro Michael Soyza outlasting the big field to bag the KRW 158,700,000 first place-cash prize and the $30k PSPC Platinum Pass.  The schedule features 5 marquee events starting with the APPT KickOff KRW 50 million GTD event.

The next significant event is the APPT National KRW 80 million GTD for a buy-in of KRW 700k running between 7-8 April 2019. The APPT Super High Roller, the biggest buy-in event in the series will have KRW 10 million buy-in and subject to the turnout, the prize pool will award huge cashes.

The highlighted KRW 1.8 million APPT Main Event will run between 11-14 April and has a good 300 million in guaranteed prize money. The Main Event last time saw 449 total entries and is expected to reach a record attendance this time. The APPT KRW 5 million High Roller will bring the series to a close.

PokerNews, a leading poker news site, will be covering 3 events, SHR, ME and HR live on their platform. The tour was in Manila recently and broke the record for the Main Event at the venue. Wilson Lim was the winner of this event and earned ~INR 1.69 Crores. 2019 APPT Manila is also in the list of the tour’s stops for this year in July-August.

South Korea doesn’t allow locals to gamble in its casinos so the field might be slightly smaller, but still the tour is expecting it to cross last year’s numbers. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for more such tournament updates and for general poker news from around the world.
