Yasheel Doddanavar progresses in APPT Korea National 1B


PokerStars LIVE is a renowned worldwide brand which operates prestigious live events. Their Asian presence is manifested in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). The tour kicked off the year with 2019 APPT Korea and the opening event already declared its champion.

Another event, the KRW 700k APPT National started with 2 flights with the first being hosted a day before yesterday. The second flight of Day 1B yesterday attracted 213 total entries (including 53 re-entries). The field whittled down to the 50 players who now have qualified for Day 2, which is sched today.

Bagging the lead was China’s Yan Li. She finished the day accumulating a stack of 366,500. She is followed by USA’ Michael Bloch with 264k chips. The top 10 chip counts also include Thai pro Phachara Wongwichit with 174k chips.

India’s Yasheel Doddanavar was also running on Day 1B and finished with a good stack of 142k, an above average stack. He finished 10th in chip counts on the day and is 16th overall going into Day 2. Another acclaimed Indian pro Meherzad Munsaf was also running in the race but unfortunately didn’t qualify.

Doddanavar is new as a live player and was even running in WPT Vietnam Main Event that happened recently at Pro Poker Club. Doddanavar finished as the chip leader on Day 1A but unfortunately didn’t receive a pay-out. He even finished 6th place in the same series for ~INR 59,000 in Deepstack Turbo.

Former Asia Player of the Year Jack Wu is among the progressors on Day 1B. Celina Lin was the only PokerStars Team Pro to have played the National but couldn’t finish the day with a stack. Current Asia POY Mike Takayama, former Asia POY Pete ChenNatalie Teh all progressed to Day 2.

  3. Leon Li Ta Hsu – 244,500
  4. Aleksandr Pak – 226,500
  5. Adrian Ng – 214,500

  8. Yuto Watanabe – 175,000
  9. Phachara Wongwichit – 174,000
  10. Yasheel Doddanavar – 142,000
