WSOP 2019: Naresh Veeravalli finishes 22nd in $600 NLHE

Thousands of poker players from all across the world packed into a few poker rooms in Rio All Suites in Las Vegas, which is said to be the poker capital of the world. Among these thousands are some of the world’s most celebrated poker professionals and the occasion is also huge – the 50th anniversary of the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Considering all these factors, the atmosphere at the WSOP can get slightly intimidating, especially if you are on your first trip to Vegas. However, Indian poker player Naresh Veeravalli hasn’t let any of the pressure get to him, recently making a mighty impressive run in Event #59: $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack Championship, eventually busting on Day 3 of the tournament today.

He maneuvered his way through a field of 6,140 entries and was the only Indian to make it to Day 3 among the final 83 players from this field. Having a stack which was much below the average stack, Veeravalli did well today to eventually finish 22nd and take home a prize of $13,658 (~INR 9.41 Lakh) for this effort.

He’ll be encouraged by this result and we may see him participate in a few more events and who knows, come back for WSOP 2020 as well. Coming to Event #59, he was among some really talented players including a few bracelet winners and at the time of writing this, play had boiled down to the Final Table of 9 players, with Joe Foresman having the lead – 55 million chips.
