WPT India 2019: BJ Rana takes lead into Main Event Day 1A

The floor was buzzing at the Deltin Royale Casino in Goa last night as we had two tournaments running simultaneously at the third edition of WPT India. First, we played down to a winner of the 25k Big Bounty Event with Sriharsha D winning his maiden WPT title. At the same time, we had the much-awaited WPT India 55k Main Event kicking off with its first starting flight.

Each entry on Day 1A had a starting stack of 30,000 and by the end of the registration period, 227 entries registered to the event. Remember, we’re looking at beating the 697-entry field that participated in last year’s Main Event, won by Nikunj Jhunjhunwala. The tournament halted last night at the end of thirteen 40-minute levels, with 64 players still in contention.

Many known names hit the tables and at the first break, we had Gagandeep Malik in the lead who was in action at the recent BPT series too. Zarvan Tumboli, Minissha Lamba, WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant, Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni, Meherzad Munsaf, PokerStars Team Pro Muskan Sethi and many others participated but busted during the day…

This year, in addition to the top prize that is yet to be calculated, the winner will walk away with a $3,500 WPT Passport which can be used at any WPT global events. Day 2 resumes on Sunday at 2pm and leading this list of survivors right now is Bhavdeepsingh Jhala Rana who has bagged 336,500 chips.
