Varun Gupta tames Whale on Adda52

Adda52 is one of the leading brands in the online poker industry in India. Its feature tournaments attract a large crowd of enthusiastic poker players from across the country. Such was the case with yesterday’s feature tournament, Whale 6-Max INR 15 Lakhs GTD.

The tournament attracted a decent turnout of 224 entries (including 74 re-entries). Beginning at 8 pm yesterday evening and getting over after 7 and a half hours of action-packed gameplay at 3.36 am today morning, there was indee some very exciting poker taking place.

Well-known online grinder Varun Gupta shipped the tournament for INR 4,21,193 as 1st place cash prize. He beat Danish Shaikh aka ‘King0fMerge’ in the heads-up title to secure his second feature tournament victory on Adda52 in the span of 31 days, having already bagged the Blaze title on the platform last month for a INR 1.62 Lakhs.

Gupta is a well-known player and has been in the circuit since many years now. He also likes to play live and his impressive record includes cashing in the APPT Manila in August 2018 and a spectacular 1st place finish at the APT Finale Macau Main Event in December 2017. He played in The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) Rozadov previously and cashed there too. He’ll be hoping to convert this INR 4.2 Lakhs bankroll addition to more winnings in the exciting line-up of events for 2019.

We got in touch with the champion after his win on Adda52 yesterday and he had this to say, “I had a good run yesterday. I shipped the Whale on Adda52 and busted at 6th place in Spartan’s IOPC #41 Elite INR 50 Lakhs GTD.” The Elite yesterday was won by Kanishka Samant aka ‘Wildflower’.

Coming to Whale, only 24 places were paid, which saw a few grinders in the mix. Finishing 6th was Kunal Vohra aka ‘kvohra’ for INR 65,212. Dhaval Mudgal aka ‘dirtyzoso’ filled the 13th position for INR 23,016. Mudgal cashed two of the ongoing APT Vietnam Kickoff events, Head Hunter and High Rollers.

Other finishes include Himanshu Arora aka ‘pirateking7’ (15th – INR 19,180), Devang Yadav aka ‘spark123’ (16th – INR 19,180), Abhishek Garg aka ‘thegrinder’ (20th – INR 13,042), Siddarth Singhvi aka ‘badtameez_donk’ (23rd) and Akshay Nasa aka ‘vibaks’ (24th – INR 13,042).
