Ujjwal Narwal takes down SSS Elite, wins INR 12 Lakh!

There’s an elite group of poker players across India who don’t mind paying massive entries to play for massive prizes every Friday on Spartan Poker. The tournament is indeed called Elite and every time there’s a major series like the ongoing Spartan Super Series (SSS) Gold Edition, the guaranteed prize pool of this tournament only increases.

Yesterday was SSS Day 3 and a total of 8 tournaments were scheduled for the day including SSS Event #23 The Elite INR 50 Lakh GTD. The buy-in was a very steep INR 27,500 and a total field of 185 entries registered last night. Beginning at 9pm, it was a gruesome grind for those who made it till the end, wrapping up at 4:42am today morning.

You have to be the best of the best to finish as victor in such tournaments and last night, it was Ujjwal Narwal aka ‘Lord Hendrix’ who took down the title. Narwal is a Spartan Poker regular and he’s a known face in the industry, with plenty of big wins under his belt. His most recent big win came when he took down the inaugural NPC on Adda52 last month.

On Spartan too, he has bagged many big wins in the past but he hasn’t revealed his Lord Hendrix identity until last night’s victory which saw him beating ‘kumarharsh020’ in heads-up and adding an outstanding prize of INR 12,00,000 to his poker bankroll. The runner-up also won a pretty handsome amount of INR 8,15,000.

Only 20 spots were paid last night, the min-cash being INR 67,000. From them, there were a handful of players who fought hard but weren’t able to get their hands on the title. These include Abhinav Iyer (18th), Siddhanth Kapoor (16th), Sam Anand (12th), Phanindra Akkina (9th), Nishant Sharma (7th), Siddarth Singhvi (4th) and ‘JasonBourne’ (3rd).
