Thursday Roundup: Mahesh, Gupta, Arora, Sood Claim Titles!


Another hectic Thursday with two domestic series – PokerBaazi Premier League (PPL) and Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS), making one of the busiest weeks for the tournament players in the country. So, let’s do a complete recap of the Thursday flagships and who came out on top.

Ultron

The biggest guarantee tourney to play out on Spartan Poker was the INR 22 Lakhs GTD Ultron, which logged in 565 entries to collect a guarantee-crushing INR 22.60 Lakhs prize pool. The heads-up clash for the title took place between mystery players ‘Wenger’ and ‘jungleman27’. And Thursday’s champion was ‘Wenger’ who collected the top prize while the latter settled in the second place. Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’, Shashank Jain aka ‘westworld’ followed next.

Monster Stack

The INR 7.5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack on Spartan Poker saw 380 entries ponying up the INR 2,200 buy-in to enter, and the top 39 finishers took a share of the INR 7.60 Lakhs prize pool. It took more than 7 hours for the event to play down the winner. Circuit grinder Mithun Mahesh aka ‘Intuitionnn’ was the last one standing in the field and bagged the winner’s prize money while ‘LuckyLuciano’ finished in the runner-up position.

PPL #39 DST

The INR 5 Lakhs GTD PPL #39 DST garnered 369 runners yesterday on PokerBaazi. Triumphing the tournament was Nishant Pandey aka ‘stockfull’ who claimed the top spot for INR 1.05 Lakh in first prize after beating ‘Iveytown’ heads-up. The latter finished in the runner-up position for INR 73,500. After the bubble, the top 45 players secured INR 2,800 as min-cash.

PPL #41 4-Max DST Hyper

PokerBaazi’s INR 3 Lakhs GTD PPL #41 4-Max DST Hyper kicked off at 7 pm yesterday. A total of 253 entries registered to the field and the top 27 places got paid. Within 2 hours of so, Banmanlang Warr Lyndem aka ‘bml2012’ emerged triumphant, knocking out site reg Ritwik Khanna aka ‘Ritwikkhanna’ in heads-up to claim INR 70,590 in prize money. The latter bowed out with INR 49,530 for finishing second.

PPL #42 The Summit MonsterStack

The featured tourney on PokerBaazi, the INR 35 Lakhs GTD PPL #42 The Summit MonsterStack logged in 481 entries to generate a guarantee-smashing INR 36.08 Lakhs prize pool. Traversing the field was Sajal Gupta aka ‘Bloodless’ who defeated Rahul Gupta aka ‘Clearsky’ in heads-up to claim an impressive INR 7.25 Lakhs top prize. Gupta finished 2nd for INR 5.08 Lakhs. Vishal Bajaj aka ‘Vishzz’ finished 3rd for INR 3.27 Lakhs, Raghav Bansal aka ‘thatssosick’ earned INR 2.42 Lakhs, Ashish Ahuja aka ‘rocky3705’ finished 4th for INR 1.81 Lakhs, Rubin Labroo aka ‘kornkid’ secured INR 1.45 Lakh for 6th place.

PPL #44 HighRoller 6-Max

The biggest winner on Thursday night pocketing a whopping INR 14.18 Lakhs in first prize was ‘karanmangla’. PokerBaazi’s PPL #44 HighRoller 6-Max INR 60 Lakhs GTD pulled in 241 entries, successfully creating INR 60.25 Lakhs prize pool. The mystery player outlasted the reg-laden field, eliminating Jai Saha aka ‘jksisme’ in heads-up. Saha captured INR 9.95 Lakhs payday. Abhinav Iyer aka ‘griezmann’ secured INR 6.4 Lakhs for 3rd place finish.

AOPS Godfather

Online grinder Chandan Arora aka ‘darkfish15’ took down AOPS Godfather INR 35 Lakhs GTD on Adda52. Arora ran past a field of 715 runners and pocketed INR 6.29 Lakhs in prize money. The tournament guarantee was easily surpassed, creating INR 35.75 Lakhs in prize pool that was eventually shared among the top 72 players. Taking home the second place payout of INR 5.01 Lakhs was Akshat Sharma aka ‘akshat03’.

AOPS PLO HighRoller

Adda52 also hosted INR 15,000 buy-in AOPS PLO HighRoller promising INR 15 Lakhs in prize pool. Starting at 9:30, the tourney attracted 94 entries and the top 9 players locked INR 41,250 as min-cash. Circuit regular Gaurav Sood aka ‘guaravarod’ captured the title and the INR 4.35 Lakhs up top after eliminating Akshay Nasa aka ‘vibaks’ in heads-up. The latter banked INR 3 Lakhs for second place finish,

Battle Royale

PokerStars India hosted Battle Royale INR 5 Lakhs GTD last night. The INR 2,750 buy-in event drew 173 entries out of which the top 27 places got paid. It was an anonymous grinder ‘The Annihilator’ to come out on top and add INR 57,320 in top prize to his poker wallet. The champion defeated Karan Jain aka ‘999AykA999’ in heads-up and collected INR 47,768.
