SSS Day 2: Debashis Bal, Arjun Agrawal among title winners

The Spartan Super Series (SSS) on Spartan Poker kicked off on 3rd June and will run until 9th June, with a total series guarantee of INR 3.8+ Crore up for grabs during this week. Yesterday was the second day of this cash-rich series and we had a few winners, each increasing their bankrolls by a fair bit.

Here’s a look at a short summary of SSS Day 2:

SSS Event #6 INR 90k GTD

The first tournament of the day was a re-entry one with a buy-in of INR 330 and the guarantee was passed to create a new prize pool of INR 1.12 Lakh. 27 players were paid a minimum of INR 1,122 each but the player to outlast the entire field and take away the biggest prize of the night was Debashis Bal who plays as ‘dev255-pg1’ on Spartan Poker. He beat ‘Drifter2’ in heads-up to bank INR 24,852 as top prize, while the runner-up settled for INR 16,774. The last hand was an interesting one as three Fours opened on the board and Bal matched a 2 to hit a Full House and win the tournament.

SSS Event #7 Kick-OFF INR 3 Lakh GTD

INR 1,100 was the buy-in set for the second tournament of the night. The guarantee was missed by very little and the top 27 places were paid out a minimum of INR 3,000. The winner turned out to be Arjun Agrawal aka ‘SirMucksAlot’ who has won plenty of titles in the past on Spartan. Getting an SSS title would’ve been a matter of pride for Agrawal, to go with INR 66,450 for finishing first. In heads-up, he beat ‘kaly134’ who was awarded the runner-up prize of INR 44,850.

SSS Event #8 PLO INR 1.5 Lakh GTD

This was the first PLO tournament of the series where the buy-in was set at INR 880. Omaha is becoming increasingly popular in India and here too, there was a healthy response, with the top 17 players being rewarded a minimum of INR 3,140 from the prize pool. Eventually, ‘King Leonidas’ was crowned champion and he/she added INR 50,320 to his/her poker bankroll, while the runner-up ‘CARDashian66’ had to settle with INR 34,000.

SSS Event #9 Mega Stack INR 15 Lakh GTD

Mega Stack is the Tuesday night featured tournament on Spartan Poker, one which has become very popular over the months. With a buy-in of INR 3,300, a total of 518 entries registered to the tournament to bring the prize pool up to INR 15.54 Lakh, which was distributed among the top 27 spots with a min-cash of INR 8,858. ‘LENIN88’ emerged champion eventually with the top prize of INR 3,02,875 being added to his bankroll. It was a good run for Debashis Bal once again who won Event #6 and finished runner-up here, banking INR 1,92,385.

SSS Event #10 Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakh GTD

This is a daily tournament on Spartan played each night and always passing the guarantee. With a buy-in of INR 1,650, the participation was good enough to take the prize pool up to INR 5.89 Lakh, which was eventually shared among the top 31 spots with a min-cash of INR 5,187. The day ended well for ‘charan1001’ who won the tournament along with INR 1,24,679 in first-place prize money. Finishing second was ‘Goldfish097’ who was rewarded with INR 83,945.
